Today, I had the pleasure of tea-time at the office of Tokyo-based illustrator Przemek Sobocki. Actually, we had coffee rather than tea, but that is beside the point.

We talked about his second round of contributions to PASS THE BATON, and why the items contributed to the shop are so popular.

He is so genuinely interested in our project! Having lived in Japan for about three years, he hasn’t accumulated a great stockpile of goods, but thankfully, he has come back for a second round.

Look for his items soon!

Thank you!

Behold! The fruit of White Day!
For those of you who might not be so well acquainted with this clearly man-made, confectionary-business stimulating holiday, let me clarify.
In Japan, Valentine’s Day is a day when women profess their love and give chocolates to the men in their lives. Exactly one month later, “White Day” on [...]

If Elvis were still alive, and could grill chicken, he would be this guy.
I have been coming to this yakitori (or grilled chicken) shop for as long as I have been in Tokyo. The first few times, I would take videos of the maestro at work.
So stoic, serious, and talented.

Around the time of our opening last September, I worked a shift or two in the Marunouchi shop.
Why only one or two?
To be honest, I felt a bit embarrassed. First of all, there is the obvious language thing. And because my language skills limited my participation, I spent a long time at [...]

I know that after eight years here in Japan, it shouldn’t phase me anymore.
